Biography
Vasilis Kolokythas was born and lives in Patras.
He holds a degree in Physical Education from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He began his painting journey at the workshop of Thessaloniki painter Dimitris Vergidis,
where he met Kaita Loutsa and Thanasis Karamytas. However, the one who gave him the tone and deep style, the anointing and light, enriched by Greek landscapes, tradition, and character, was Georgios Kouzounis.
Vasilis’ works are characterised by a rich sense of joy, flooded with Greek light, without lacking a strong ethnographic disposition, akin to modern Greek literature. Thus, Vasilis Kolokythas has followed the path of Expressionist plain-air painting.
He is nationally recognised through his exhibitions, and his works are part of significant collections, both Greek and international.
Vasilis impresses with the power of his colouring ability, leaving an intense personal mark on Art.
This uniqueness makes him particularly eligible for well known Art Galleries, making his work one of a kind and much wanted. His mastery of color captivates even the most demanding collectors, leaving them in awe.
