Alexander the Great was King of Macedonia and one of the greatest military commanders in history. He managed to conquer a vast empire stretching from Greece to Egypt and India, while at the same time spreading Greek culture throughout the world, marking the beginning of the Hellenistic period. He was a student of Aristotle and died very young, at the age of 32, leaving behind an indelible mark on history and world culture.
