About the Book

Through 24 letters, the author Giannis Brouzos undertakes a reflection on the essence of existence. Two major roles that shaped his life—that of a father and that of a teacher—emerge throughout the text from the very beginning. These roles alternate and engage in a personal dialogue with his son, leaving a legacy for his upbringing.

In these letters, he narrates small personal stories and lived experiences, as well as reflections and examples, in an effort to pass on wisdom and knowledge. On another level, the book unfolds into an open dialogue with every reader who engages with the text.

About the Author

I was born in Piraeus. I studied physics and music. Always remaining an amateur, unafraid of sincere effort, I have published scientific research papers, completed a PhD, and obtained a piano diploma.

Of all my roles, I cherish those of student and teacher. I have been fortunate to teach children of all ages—from kindergarten to university—in Greece and abroad.

I fell in love with and passionately pursue a life of solidarity, companionship, mutual support, sharing, and collectivity. The greatest fortune in my life is my people: family, friends, companions, teachers, and students. The greatest gift of my life is my son, Stelios.

Next to this little flower, I walk carefully, with all the strength I possess, helping him bloom. As difficult as it may be, this path that my steps have carved is offered as a testimony of my love for life—a testimony of my resistance against death.

I have been diagnosed with cancer and face it with every possible means. I accept it, and I do not intend to stop fighting until I have exhausted every last ounce of life’s resistance.

I wish that every trace of my existence on earth illuminates what truly matters in life. May Life always have the final word.
