OLYMPIC EDUCATION PROGRAMS BEGIN AT THE “GALLERY ODEIO” OF THE CULTURAL AND OLYMPIC CENTER “KOSTIS PALAMAS”
Programs of Olympic Education, aimed at cultivating excellence and shaping the ideal young citizen in primary education, have officially begun at the “Gallery Odeio” of the Cultural and Olympic Center “Kostis Palamas”.
On Wednesday, 17/12/2025, in the elegant hall of Gallery Odeio, the educational programs were launched by the Association of Fine Arts of Patras “Kostis Palamas”, under the guidance of Professor Dr. Theodoros Mallias, with students from the 62nd Primary School of Patras as guests.
The main objective of the program is to introduce children to the life and work of the poet Kostis Palamas, as well as to the values and ideals derived from the Olympic Hymn of the great intellectual figure. The program encourages young people to cultivate excellence (“Arete”) within the framework of fair play (“Eυ αγωνίζεσθαι”), fostering the creation of the ideal citizen—brave, noble, respectful, and virtuous.
The interactive artistic activity focused on the creation of a future Olympic torch for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games, in front of the symbolic altar of Olympic torches, promoting awareness among children of the ideals of Peace, Equality, Freedom, and Brotherhood among all peoples.
The President of Gallery Odeio of the Cultural and Olympic Center, Ms. Georgia Yachou, and the President of the Association of Fine Arts of Patras “Kostis Palamas”, writer Theodoros Mallias, together with the awarding of commemorative certificates, presented the illustrated volume “The Artists Create Culture” to the participating 62nd Primary School as a token of honor for their excellent participation in the program.
The volume will enrich the school library, allowing students to learn about the historical record of the preservation and promotion of the House of Palamas as a cultural hub, as well as the international Olympic movement of the Association of Fine Arts of Patras “Kostis Palamas”, including efforts for UNESCO recognition of the Olympic Hymn as a World Cultural Heritage.
Congratulations.
