OLYMPIC EDUCATION – Kotronis Schools

AT THE “GALLERY ODEIO” OF THE CULTURAL AND OLYMPIC CENTER “KOSTIS PALAMAS”

the Association of Fine Arts of Patras “Kostis Palamas”, with the support of international organizations from the United States and Canada, is reviving the spirit of Olympism among Greeks worldwide, promoting the Olympic ideals, the Olympic Truce, and the cultivation of Olympic Education.

In view of the Olympic Games “Los Angeles 2028” and the urgent need to strengthen education, the International Olympism Movement of the Cultural and Olympic Center “Kostis Palamas”, together with the Association of Fine Arts of Patras “Kostis Palamas”, the Hellenic Canadian Congress, the Association of Greeks of New York “Kostis Palamas”, the Greek Library of California, the Hellenic Heritage Society of America, the Hellenic American Council of America, and other international organizations, promote educational programs aimed at raising awareness among Greeks worldwide—especially students in Greece and the diaspora.

These Olympic Education programs, hosted in the modern facilities of Gallery Odeio, opposite the historic Ancient Odeon of Patras, highlight and promote:

a) The Olympic ideals of Peace, Democracy, Freedom, Equality, and Brotherhood among peoples of the world.
b) The cultivation of Olympic Education and “Excellence (Arete)” within the framework of “Fair Play”, shaping the ideal citizen.
c) The revival and establishment of the ancient Greek Olympic Truce ahead of the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.
d) The recognition by UNESCO of the Olympic Hymn of Kostis Palamas as a World Cultural Heritage symbol of Olympism.

With great success, Olympic Education programs continue to be implemented at Gallery Odeio for primary school students, with recent participation from the Kotronis Modern Educational Schools and the 62nd Primary School of Patras. The children engaged in interactive artistic creation by designing the Olympic Torch for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games, symbolizing renewal, knowledge, cultural evolution, and the promotion of peace and global unity.

These artistic creations are expected to be presented in a major international exhibition on Olympic Education, supporting the global Olympic movement and the values of Excellence and Noble Competition, inspired by the Platonic ideal of the “kalos kagathos” citizen—noble, beautiful in spirit, and beneficial to society.

Participating schools are set to become models of educational values at an international level.
