Description

A collectible flexible magnet featuring a hand-painted illustration of the steps on Patreos Street in the city of Patras, Greece. The hand-painted artwork gives the magnet a unique and distinctive character.

The first monumental stairways in Patras were built in 1873. Among them are the Patreos Street Steps, which connect Patreos Street to Agios Georgios Square and consist of 93 steps.

The steps are made of marble, a material that has been abundant in the Patras area since ancient times, along with the skilled craftsmen needed to work with it.

Like other stairways in the city, the Patreos Street Steps were built to connect Upper Patras, traditionally inhabited mainly by poor farming families and some wealthy landowners, with Lower Patras, where merchants, industrialists, and members of the urban middle class lived. Today, these historic steps remain a distinctive landmark of the city, reflecting its architectural heritage and urban history.
