BOOK PRESENTATION – “LIFE OPPORTUNITIES” by Filippos Zaharis

The presentation of the book “Life Opportunities” by author and journalist Filippos Zaharis will take place at the Cultural and Olympic Center “Kostis Palamas” (P. P. Germanou 30, Patras, opposite the Roman Odeon) on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at 18:30.

“Life Opportunities,” the first book by philologist and journalist Filippos Zaharis, is a collection of selected texts which, according to the author, “address those who wish to rediscover the lost meanings of the past, so as to serve as a passage toward a ‘new’ life through the strength offered by Existence itself…”

“If this work manages to inspire productive thought, if the words can reframe today’s life—poor in ideas and values—then the goal will have been achieved.”

Filippos Zaharis was born in Piraeus in 1964 and attended secondary education at the Franco-Hellenic School of Piraeus. He holds a degree in German Philology from the University of Athens and has worked for many years as a journalist, alongside teaching German and working as a translator.

He began his journalistic career in 1996 as a contributor to regional daily newspapers, focusing on political and social commentary and European affairs, especially German-speaking countries. From 2003 to 2012, he served as head of the press office of the Association of Regional Daily Newspapers (S.H.P.E.). Between 2007 and 2009, he was chief editor of the nationwide weekly newspaper “Skrip”. Since 2012, he has collaborated with German-language media (including the Austrian Press Agency “APA” and German publications) as well as regional newspapers in Chania (Haniotika Nea), Mytilene (Dimokratis), Kalamata (Eleftheria), and Rhodes (Rodiaki). He also works at the major medical portal iatronet.gr as a journalist and forum administrator of “The Patient’s Voice.”
