Description

Akis Vasilopoulos was born in 1967 in Patras, where he lives and works.

His first teacher was his father, the distinguished painter and one of the founding members of the Association, Giorgos Vasilopoulos, with whom he took his first steps in painting.

He studied drawing under the painting instructors Th. Drosos and K. Righoukis.

In 1989, he was admitted to the Athens School of Fine Arts, studying under Morelis and Tessis, among others.

From 1993 to 1995, he attended “Art and Paint” at Aglia University College, Cambridge.

In 1994, he held his first solo exhibition at Lever Hellas Gallery in Athens. This was followed by three more exhibitions: in Patras (1996), Pyrgos (1996), and Messolonghi (1997).

Although trained in classical painting, his drawing sensitivity, brushwork, and chromatic harmony characterize him as a mature artist with neo-impressionist tendencies.

Akis is building a bright future with confidence and certainty. He is, in a sense, obliged to make the name he inherited more widely known to art lovers in Greece and abroad.

He presents his work with maturity, while his father, Giorgos Vasilopoulos, remains constantly by his side.

His works play with light and color. At times, light emerges and takes prominence; at others, color dominates and impresses. His artistic creation is truly striking, distinguished by chromatic refinement and the emergence of form through light and truth.
